TeamWomen WaveMaker Award – Outstanding Mentor

So many amazing people have blazed trails that allow me to walk in my destiny – my parents, family, mentors, and friends, and I am so appreciative of everyone who has supported me through all my ups and downs!

Last night I was honored by TeamWomen with a WaveMaker award for being an Outstanding Mentor. Courtney Taylor nominated me, and that means the world to me! So many important people were there in person to cheer me on or sent me motivation leading up to the night! 

The night was amazing, and I shared the stage with phenomenal women doing amazing work in our community. But, the best part for me was that my daughter was right there to watch and absorb it all! 

I was asked to give a short acceptance speech. I took the opportunity to share a little about my story & how my children – especially my oldest Charles, and only daughter, Kaiya- have been and are my motivation to achieve more & mentor others. 

I shared about how I see the world: “What motivates me is to blaze a trail so that when she’s ready to join to the workforce, it’s ready for her. I believe in mentoring young women and giving back, so the trail can be wider, it can be a highway, it can be a whole city – ready for my daughter.”
