Presented by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

Kelli Williams 2025 Women in Business Award Acceptance Speech

Smiling after an incredible day being honored as a 2025 Women in Business award recipient by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal (MSPBJ)!

Huge thanks to my former client turned great friend Kelli Schnieder for nominating me and always nudging (okay, pushing) me toward growth. And to my best friend and life partner Tim Williams, thank you for being my daily cheerleader, my thought partner, and my calm in the storm.

Congratulations to all of the amazing honorees! Whitney-Lehr Koening and the MSPBJ team, bravo on a beautiful event that celebrated the brilliance of women across our region. And to my village, thank you for always showing up – especially, Jaime Taets, thank you for always cheering me on. That’s sisterhood.

While I’m deeply grateful for the acknowledgment of my professional journey, I also want to normalize telling the whole story, the stuff I usually push down and only share with a trusted few.

This week, I had a moment. I’ve been working hard this year to move more, eat better, and take care of myself. I bought a dress for this event more than a month ago. But when I tried to zip it… it didn’t. I was disappointed. I was really sad because the dress was beautiful and represented my personal brand color in a beautiful way.

The old me would’ve spiraled. But I decided to give myself grace. I headed to the mall and found a new dress. I chose kindness over criticism.

That small moment felt like a big win. And still I rise – and I found another way to display my signature green. 💚

So here’s to the wins, the setbacks, and the comebacks. To being honored for what we’ve done while making space for who we’re still becoming.
